Gun Barrel City Has Grown Over the Years

With a name like Gun Barrel City, you’d expect this place to have a lot of unwanted hustle and bustle. However, that’s simply not the case. This easygoing Texas town is anything but rowdy. It’s actually a flourishing community located about 50 miles southeast of Dallas and lies on the eastern shore of Cedar Creek Reservoir, makeing Gun Barrel City affordable property highly desirable.  Although Gun Barrel City was developed in the mid-1960s, it earned its name years earlier when residents were known for protecting their property from bandits that roamed the area. Rifles were common and the town motto became, “We shoot straight with you.” But things have become much more peaceful since then. The town is a community of friendly people and the population has grown to over 5,000 residents. With Cedar Creek Lake so close by, there’s much fun and excitement for adults and kids alike.
