Gun Barrel City View Property – The Best of Texas
Knowing where Gun Barrel City got its name from makes it a whole lot less ominous. It turns out all began with the town’s motto: “We shoot straight with you.” Throughout the years, the town’s population has grown considerably — from a mere 70 residents in 1970 to well over 5,000 today. It has several claims to fame beyond its moniker. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were known to spend time in Gun Barrel City during the Prohibition era, and the town actually gained a bit of national attention by electing a 21-year-old man, R. Tye Thomas, its mayor in May of 2000. (He resigned a year later after being indicted on misdemeanor charges of public intoxication.) Gun Barrel City view property presents its share of restaurants and stores, but its main asset would have to be its community; boasting as much personality as the town’s unique history, the residents are generally very helpful and friendly.
